SERIES B AND LATER
Lille-based Gravitee secures €55 million to expand its unified API management platform

🇫🇷 Lille-based scale-up Gravitee, which unifies synchronous and asynchronous APIs and event streams in a single platform, has raised €55 million in a Series C funding round.

“Companies are integrating AI agents, streaming data, APIs, and hybrid systems faster than ever,” said CEO Rory Blundell in a statement. “As a result, many companies face major risks around security, observability, and control of their API and event infrastructure.”

I strongly agree with his perspective. In the age of AI, API robustness seems more important than ever.

Gravitee offers a unified platform for designing APIs, creating mock tests, and deploying them, all backed by a dashboard that lets users monitor and visualize every component of their API deployments.

Founded in 2015, this scale-up employs over 130 people and has achieved an ARR of $22 million in fiscal year 2024. Impressive! 🚀

SERIES A
Lausanne-based ReproNove raises €57 million to expand its novel therapies for infertility

🇨🇭 Lausanne-based ReproNovo, a HealthTech startup developing novel therapies for male and female infertility and uterine conditions, has secured a €57 million Series A financing round.

Founded in 2021, this startup is developing treatments such as:

  • RPN-001, which aims to safely restore healthy testosterone levels in men with low fertility.

  • RPN-002, a therapy for adenomyosis that may also improve success rates in assisted reproductive technologies.

For instance, Fortune notes that sperm counts have declined by 50%-60% over the past four decades, contributing to rising rates of male infertility. Quite crazy. 😳

One of their main investors said, “ReproNovo combines strong innovative potential, a seasoned team, and a clear ambition to address one of the most pressing global challenges of our time: declining birth rates.”

🇩🇪 Berlin-based Tomorrow.Bio, Europe’s first cryonics lab—which preserves legally deceased bodies at ultra-low temperatures to halt decay in the hope future medical advances can revive them—has raised €5 million.

Imagine a future where medical advances can cure deadly diseases like lung cancer, giving patients a second shot at life. That’s exactly the mission of this startup—which, to my surprise, is based in Europe 🇪🇺. I would have imagined the regulatory hurdles here would make such a service impossible. Happy to be wrong!

The startup provides long-term cryopreservation for individuals who opt to be preserved at ultra-low temperatures (minus 196°C to halt all biological processes) after legal death (this seems to be the key from legal aspect), with the hope of eventual revival once medical science has progressed.

As of today, the company has cryopreserved 20 people and 10 pets, with more than 800 more signed up. Total contract value has just surpassed €160 million. Impressive!

PRE-SEED
Ghent-based Ravical raises €7.3 million to automate up to 80% of professional services

🇧🇪 Ghent-based Ravical, a startup delivering domain-trained AI “virtual employees” to automate up to 80% of professional services work in tax, legal, accounting, and insurance, has raised €7.3 million in a pre-seed funding round.

As is usually the case with very large pre-seed rounds, a serial entrepreneur is behind this startup: Joris Van Der Gucht, who built and sold accounting-automation pioneer Silverfin for €320 million in 2023.

Ravical’s solution provides domain-trained AI agents built for accounting, tax, legal, HR, and insurance firms. In the founder’s words: “We don’t believe AI will replace expert firms — but we do think that 80 percent of the work in these firms lends itself to AI automation.”

Ravical has already undertaken 10 pilot projects with professional services firms of various sizes and across multiple industries. It’s still early for this startup, but I think they have an interesting approach!
