SERIES B AND LATER
Safe Superintelligence, the AI startup co-founded by former OpenAI chief scientist Ilya Sutskever, has raised over $1 billion

🇺🇸 Safe Superintelligence, the AI startup co-founded by former OpenAI Chief Scientist Ilya Sutskever, has secured over $1 billion in funding.
Startups raising $1 billion or more are always intriguing, but in this case, it’s not just the size of the round that’s intriguing—it's how quickly everything has happened. 🤯
Please note that Ilya Sutskever left OpenAI just 4 months ago (!!!), after his differences with Sam Altman and the company's new direction (more commercial, less focused on research). It's mind-blowing to see that they've already raised $1 billion just 3 months after the company's creation.
Apart from developing “safe AI superintelligence,” it's unclear what the startup is specifically working on. According to the press release, they won't release any products for a couple of years, as they will be fully focused on R&D. We’ll closely follow any further developments!

SERIES A
Reykjavik-based Treble raises €11 million to build the sound of our cities
🇮🇸 Treble, a next-generation sound simulation and synthetic audio data generation technology company, has raised €11 million in a Series A round.
As this startup notes in their press release, designing sound for buildings, cars, and tech products has traditionally been costly due to a lack of accurate, easy-to-use simulation tools. This is now changing thanks to the rapid growth of AI-based audio models.
The company, founded in 2020 by acoustic engineers Dr. Finnur Pind and Jesper Pedersen, launched the Treble platform in 2023, the world’s first cloud-based sound simulation and synthetic audio data generation platform, which has been benchmarked to be 100x faster than existing sound simulation solutions.
The platform is already being used by some of the world’s largest and most prestigious companies in tech, construction, audio, and automotive, including three of the five leading global tech giants. Nice!

SEED
Milan-based IdentifAI gets €2.2 million to detect fake AI-generated content online
🇮🇹 IdentifAI, a Milan-based startup specializing in developing and training (de)generative models for identifying content potentially generated by AI, has secured €2.2 million in seed funding.
This startup aims to empower every individual, citizen, consumer, and political or business decision-maker with the ability to clearly distinguish between content created by AI and that crafted by human creativity.
I think IdentifAI is aiming to address a very real problem, and I really like seeing companies focusing on mitigating the collateral and potentially negative impacts associated with the advancement of AI.
I believe many people would love to continue seeing human-generated content in the future, which represents an interesting business opportunity for companies in this space.

PRE-SEED
Milan-based HR tech Skillvue gets €2.5 million for AI-based skills assessment platform
🇮🇹 Milan-based HR tech startup Skillvue, which provides an AI platform to enhance talent allocation, better anticipate job market shifts, and increase retention of high performers, has raised €2.5 million.
First of all, let me just say that I really like the problem this startup is aiming to solve. According to OECD estimates, over 1 billion jobs, almost one-third of all jobs worldwide, are likely to be transformed by technology in the next decade.
If you think about that number, it’s mind-blowing. I don’t think the pace of job transformation has ever been this fast in history.
This startup has already secured major customers in various segments, such as Carrefour and Credem. It seems they’re executing very well, so we’ll be following them closely!
