SERIES B AND LATER
Berlin-based medtech Caresyntax raises €163 million for AI surgery platform

🇩🇪 Last week, Berlin-based Caresyntax raised €163 million to revolutionize surgery by integrating AI, devices, and clinical services.

First of all, let me say that I really like what this scale-up does. 👩‍⚕️ 🏥

❓️ If you were in a life-or-death situation and facing surgery, who would you trust more: a human or an AI algorithm?

On one hand, humans are likely better at navigating the uncertainty of completely new situations. But we can also easily make human errors.

On the other hand, AI is probably much more consistent in handling known situations. I think I would prefer an AI algorithm. Besides, it would be much more cost-efficient.

Founded in 2013, this company is on a mission to make surgery smarter and safer. Their software captures and analyzes large volumes of video, audio, images, device data, clinical, and operational data, providing metadata insights and real-world evidence that help surgeons and teams improve their care.

Currently, the software is being used in more than 3.000 operating rooms worldwide and supports surgical teams in more than three million procedures per year. Impressive! 🚀

🇬🇧 Last week, London-based battery startup Gaussion raised €10.9 million to develop rapid battery charging technology.

To begin with, I would like to say that I believe this startup is addressing a very real and significant problem.

The slow charging speed of batteries remains a major challenge that needs to be solved for the widespread adoption of electric vehicles (EVs).

This startup, a spin-off from University College London (UCL), has developed a promising solution that significantly enhances battery performance by using an external magnetic field during charge and discharge cycles.

This approach enables rapid charging by steering ions within existing battery cells. Nice!

SEED
London-based Trumpet bags €5.7 million to centralise the whole sales cycle into collaborative pods

🇬🇧 Last week, London-based startup Trumpet, a platform that puts buyers at the center of the sales journey, announced it has raised €5.7 million in seed funding.

Let's start by understanding what this startup is doing. This startup is helping companies streamline their B2B sales processes by centralizing the entire buying journey from pitch to renewal into a single, collaborative workspace. If I'm getting it right, it's more or less like an enhanced CRM.

The company is targeting the “Sales Enablement Platform” market, which is projected to grow to nearly $9 billion by 2029. Not a huge market, but an interesting one.

According to the funding press release, customers of this startup have “reduced sales cycles by 28% and increased closed-won opportunities by 13%”. These numbers look promising! This startup may have a compelling product on their hands.
